(Sydney) TWILIGHT TALKS – Let’s Act On…Fast Fashion!
August 6, 2019 @ 5:50 pm - 8:00 pm
$10Every time we purchase an item of clothing, we're participating in a complex supply chain with far-reaching social, economic and environmental impacts. Join us for our second Twilight Talks for 2019, which will give you the information and practical tools you need to act on the issue of fast fashion. We'll hear from guest speaker Kirsten Lee, followed by a Q&A session. You'll leave with a suite of achievable actions you can take to make a positive difference while keeping fashion fun!
Guest speaker: Kirsten Lee lectures in Fashion at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Ethical Textiles for Masters at University of New South Wales (UNSW) Art & Design, and guest lectures in Ethical Fashion. She is a Committee Member for Fashion Revolution Australia and in the midst of conducting her thesis research in Ethical Fashion Education at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). She has worked as a textile and fashion designer in the fashion industry for many years for both large scale and small labels. She is also a yoga teacher and believes the theory and practice of conscious living and mindfulness can be applied to fashion design, in terms of its impact both socially and environmentally.
